چکیده

IN this paper we report observations on the treatment with ACTH of six female patients suffering from Sj6gren's syndrome. Each case was investigated on two occasions, an initial period of observation preceding the second admission for treatment. Five of the six patients underwent parotid biopsy, typical histological changes being seen in all. The methods used to assess improvement during therapy are described below.

Rapamycin Eye Drops Suppress Lacrimal Gland Inflammation In a Murine Model of Sjögren's Syndrome

Purpose To evaluate the efficacy of topical rapamycin in treating autoimmune dacryoadenitis in a mouse model of Sjögren's syndrome. Methods We developed rapamycin in a poly(ethylene glycol)-distearoyl phosphatidylethanolamine (PEG-DSPE) micelle formulation to maintain solubility. Rapamycin or PEG-DSPE eye drops (vehicle) were administered in a well-established Sjögren's syndrome disease model...

Primary Sjögren's syndrome, ulcerative colitis and selective IgA deficiency.

A 24-year-old man with primary Sjögren's syndrome presented with xerophthalmia, xerostomia, and marked parotid swelling. He had a previous history of selective IgA deficiency and ulcerative colitis treated with sulphasalazine. Immunosuppression and withdrawal of sulphasalazine resulted in rapid resolution of the parotitis and disappearance of autoantibodies. A possible role for sulphasalazine i...

Herein, we report for the first time, a patient who developed recurrent acute transverse myelitis in association with primary biliary cirrhosis without any clinical or hi...

Sjörgren's syndrome treated with bromhexine: a randomised clinical study.

Existing treatment for Sjögren's syndrome is unsatisfactory, and uncontrolled observations have suggested that bromhexine may be effective. Twenty-nine patients with Sjögren's syndrome were therefore assigned to two randomised double-blind crossover trials with bromhexine and placebo, each comprising two two-week periods. In the first trial bromhexine 24 mg/day was given by mouth; in the second...

Crohn's Disease Associated with Sweet's Syndrome and Sjögren's Syndrome Treated with Infliximab

The association of Crohn's disease (CD) and Sweet's syndrome is rare and the presence of Sjögren's syndrome in Crohn's disease is even rarer, with only three reports found in the literature. We describe two cases of Crohn's disease associated with Sweet's syndrome, one of which is the first case of CD and Sweet's concomitantly associated with Sjogren's syndrome. Both cases responded rapidly to ...
